Interior Evaluation

Why do people risk their own lives for others? I have a hypothesis for that. My hypothesis is that people do this because they have a certain kindness in their hearts that allows them to not be selfish and care about the lives of others just as much or even more than their own. A great example of this is the shooting that happened recently in Connecticut at a school full of children no older than 6 years old. When i was that young things like that never happened to out generation. The shooter came into a particular classroom where the teacher had the students hiding and asked where they were and he asked where the students were. The teacher said the students were in the gymnasium and he shot the teacher point blank without a second thought and went to the gymnasium. This is an example because the teacher showed such an act of selflessness by lying for the students so they could survive. the teacher i feel is smart enough to know that an encounter with such a sadistic person would lead to something bad. He gave up his life to let the future generation live.

Another great question is why do people value their lives over the lives of others? I have a hypothesis about this also. I feel this is because people are afraid of death . They can eliminate this fear by trying to live as long a s possible. How do you do this? By putting their lives before others. This may be seen as selfishness to others but i view it as fear. An extreme example of this is with Osama Bin Laden and his wife. When the U.S troops came to defeat him and kill him he used his wife as a human shield so he could keep living. It did not work as he thought it would but it still proves as a great example. If he would have not been afraid of death and did not value his life above others he would have just been killed and let people live instead of taking them with him.
